STEM Club

This month, our Year 3 to 6 children in the afterschool STEM Club engaged in an exciting tower-building challenge! Working in mixed small teams, they competed to construct the tallest and sturdiest towers using only spaghetti and marshmallows, all within a 10-minute time limit. Each team approached the task with unique strategies, experimenting with different designs and tactics.

As they faced the challenge of fragile spaghetti snapping under pressure, the children discussed potential improvements for next time, such as using sturdier materials like sticks from the field or match sticks. This hands-on activity not only sparked creativity and teamwork but also encouraged critical thinking about structural integrity.

We invite parents to ask their children what strategies they think could enhance the strength of their structures in future challenges.
