Oaklands participated in the annual Bancroft’s Swimming Gala on Wednesday 1 May.
We had one finalist for the Y3/4 25m Breaststroke where Anabella came 4th against swimmers from Gatehouse, Bancrofts and Daiglen in a time of 28.28 seconds. Well Done Annabella!
Other notable strong swims came from Ellie, winning her heat in the Y5/6 backstroke and Alex, also achieving a fantastic 25m butterfly time in the Y5/6 heat. This event was of a particularly high standard and Alex was unlucky not to reach the final.
The relays were extremely exciting with lots of cheering and spirit. A special ‘well done’ for Alex, Kristina and Olivia, all competing from Y3 for the first time at an inter-schools swimming gala.
Amber and Jeyda in Y5 completed the Oaklands team and delivered good performances too.
Despite missing our usual Y6 pupils due to the PGL residential, our young swimmers showed enthusiasm and competitiveness against strong competition from Coopersale Hall, Daiglen, Loyola, Avon House, Forest, Woodford Green Prep and Bancroft’s – well done Oaklands!
